I have been a part of College Dreams since I was in 6th grade. What a blessing it has been to be a part of such a wonderful program. I can’t say enough good things about Judie Drummond, Tom Drummond and most of all, Rebecca Clark. It has been so amazing having such an incredible support system and cheer leaders cheering me on throughout my whole journey. I have always loved volunteering in the community and performing community service wherever I am able to. I moved to Oregon when I was 8 years old and my family was not that involved in the community. But growing up in College Dreams program and volunteering at so many different community events, I expanded the network of community members. To this day, I still run into them and they still remember me from when I used to help out at different community events. It’s such a great feeling to know so many great people in the community. This is such a great program and a great opportunity to learn what the motto of College Dreams really means, “The harder I work, the luckier I get”. This program has taught me the value of hard work and the true meaning of giving back to my community. It has molded me to appreciate the volunteers that really keep this community running with all of their hard and selfless work.
Then there is the scholarship portion of the program that is unbelievable! How awesome to have that peace of mind knowing you have funds tucked away for your future college education? I will forever be grateful to all of these wonderful people who have provided me the opportunity to attend school without having to worry about postponing my education because I didn’t have the funding. I am now graduated with my 2 year AAOT degree and am currently an AmeriCorps member at The Job Council. I am entering my second term of AmeriCorps because I love to serve my community! I am currently earning education awards through AmeriCorps to further my college education and will be a part of the Dream$avers program as well. I am very excited for what the future has in store for me! Thank you again College Dreams!
